Royal Cornwall Show

This has been Cornwall’s showcase since it was first held back in 1793 and as you’d expect from a county show, a fascinating glimpse into rural life in the county. Apart from the livestock judging, there is the famous flower tent decked out with wonderful displays from individuals and local nurseries. The main ring offers a full three days of entertainment featuring different headline acts each year, plus show jumping and a fast and furious inter-hunt relay. There is also a full programme of entertainment and demonstrations in the countryside area, alongside Cornish heritage and Cornish wrestling. Bude and Stratton Folk Festival

Bude & Stratton Folk Festival is small friendly and very welcoming. It is held in the picturesque surroundings of Bude and nearby Stratton in North Cornwall on the late May Bank Holiday weekend. The Festival always welcomes a wide range of talented guest performers. This year these include internationally known folk artists such as Jim Causley, Jackie Oates and Liam Robinson. Eden Classic Cycle Ride

Pedal in paradise on the new Eden Classic cycle ride, which promises to be the most memorable and distinct cycling sportive in the UK. What’s it all about? The Eden Classic is a spectacular new mass-participation cycling event and is set to become one of the top cycling events of the year, offering riders the unique chance to pedal the length of Eden past the world-famous Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes as they start their challenging journey. What happens? Riders will ascend steep hairpin bends up the side of the former china clay quarry before taking a choice of three routes along the south Cornwall coast and then finishing back over the finishing line in the heart of Eden. Organisers believe that no bike event in the country can offer such a scenic start and end point.  Eden in spring will be bursting with colour and life. Add to this the grandeur of some of the most stunning coastal roads in the world, this will be a very special ride. How can you take part? Riders will be able to bring the rest of the family into Eden free of charge, so everyone can enjoy a great day out. The Eden Classic will offer riders a choice of three route options ranging from a short yet challenging ride with spectacular views of 35 miles, to a middle distance of 62 miles and a long ride for the experienced sportive rider of 100 miles. Port Eliot Dog Festival

Port Eliot Dog Festival and Whippet Tea Party celebrates its success in the delightful grounds of Port Eliot. Last year over seven hundred people and hundreds of dogs came along. For humans there will be an array of stalls, cream teas and other refreshments, a treasure hunt and other activities for kids, and musical entertainment from the wonderful Wurlizta band later on in the afternoon. The Dog Festival is once again being held in support of Children’s Hospice South West’s Precious Lives Appeal, raising funds to build the new children’s hospice at Little Harbour, near St Austell. Entry to the wonderful grounds is £2.00 per adult, Children free and £1.00 per class entry in the dog show.  All proceeds to the CHSW.
