Laura & Michael’s Wedding

Last September, Ta Mill was over the moon to see university sweet hearts, Laura and Michael, get married here at our exclusive hire wedding venue.

Laura, living in Reading, wanted to come home to her Cornish roots at St Clether, only two miles away from Ta Mill, in order to get married in her home county. The ceremony took place in Ta Mill’s courtyard room which had wooden arches adorned by blue hydrangeas, home grown flowers and foliage collected from the site – all decorated and arranged by Laura’s talented Mum, Vanda.

After the ceremony, the happy couple and their guests enjoyed canapés and bubbly in the courtyard, where photographers Natalie and her husband from Iconik Photography took the opportunity to capture the happy and joyous moment.

The reception for 80 guests was held in a stunning marquee provided by Hatch Marquees. The frame marquee boasted clear sides in order to allow the guests to enjoy Ta Mill’s spectacular views whilst they tucked into their afternoon tea. The Good Food Catering Company catering provided a range of tasty sandwiches, cakes, sweets, tea & coffee – which everyone loved, finishing off the delicious treats.

In the evening, the couple provided a free bar, managed by the staff at Ta Mill. There was an array of drinks ranging from Spicy Rum Cocktails, to Bombay Sapphire Gin and Tonics to St Austell beers, as well as the very long Penpont, brewed only a few minutes away from Ta Mill. Alongside the free flowing drinks was the Ceilidh Band, “Spinach for Norman”, who played music throughout the evening with band member, Howard Harrison, encouraging and cheering on the guests while they danced.

Later, a Cornish favourite made an appearance as the guests tucked into Cornish pasties while they made use of Ta Mill’s games room. Pool and tennis tournaments went long into the night, before the guests settled into Ta Mill’s cosy and luxurious lodges and cottages.

The wedding was a relaxing yet fun celebration of Laura and Michael’s love, filled with traditional Cornish produce, food and entertainment, all within a classic Cornish setting.

Mother Vanda left a wonderful note for us on Facebook, stating:

“My daughter has just had the most wonderful wedding at Ta Mill. From the initial planning to clearing up the day after, we cannot fault the care and dedication given by Helen and her team. All of our needs were more than met in such a kind, friendly and understanding manner. It is a beautiful venue and I would recommend it to anyone.”

We are over the moon to hear that Laura & Michael enjoyed their wedding at Ta Mill and that we even have the mother-of-the-bride’s approval! This was one of our favourite weddings, couples and guests of 2016. We hope to be able to host more weddings like Laura & Michael’s in 2017 and beyond.
